My name is Carl Auriel, I was born November 1966 in Stockholm, Sweden. I was a very curious child and always asked: “why are things the way they are”. Never satisfied with the answers I got, I kept on asking “why” which rendered me the nickname “The Little Professor ”. Part of this nickname was due to the fact that I also was very absent-minded. My Aunt saw this as a sign that I would one day become a monk sitting on a mountain in Himalaya meditating.
When I was 17 I met my first girlfriend. She introduced me to Astrology. Exploring the world of Astrology made me interested in Spirituality and Religion. This led me to Study History of Ideas and History of Religions on the University of Stockholm. My main interest was to understand life and how this was a reflection of divinity. I found my answers in philosophy and mysticism and that led me onto a two year long study of Buddhism, which was my main subject in History of Religion. The main treatise was about Buddha Nature and how this concept was seen in the different Buddhist traditions in India, Tibet, China and Japan. The title of my main thesis was; “Do we already have a Buddha Nature or is it something we develop?” When writing the thesis I explored the difference between gradual and sudden enlightenment; and I realized that enlightenment is a process and a state of being at the same time.
When I was 25 I became a father. By this time I thought I was going to India to find a Guru, but as things turned out I got myself a daughter. The funny thing was that she was a Capricorn and that is of course the sun sign for India. So my little daughter became my Guru instead, I didn’t need to go anywhere to find God, it was right here before my eyes in the form of a baby. As a celebration of this, her middle name became Tara, the Bodhisattva of Mercy and Compassion.
As years went by, I studied all that I could find about spirituality from Psychology and Zen to UFO:s and ET:s. Everything was interesting, but I was never satisfied with the answers I got. I wanted to understand how everything work and what the meaning of life is. Somewhere along the line I got into a major life crisis. I had just separated from my wife and two kids. Not knowing where to go or what to do, I prayed to God that he would show me why I was here. I felt empty and my life seemed to have no meaning; I was ready to leave the Planet. Suddenly I got a message from God to go to Iceland and to be on the Volcano of Hekla on a certain date. I didn’t know much about Iceland, just that I had had an icelandic girlfriend once. After having sold all my spiritual books, I had enough money for a flight ticket. In Reykjavik I rented a car and visited my former girlfriend. After some days I went to the Volcano in the middle of the night, as I was told to do.
The Moon and the stars where shining, so there was light enough to see in the dark. I started to climb the mountain and felt excited and refreshed coming here after such a long journey. Suddenly a lot of energy came in through my crown chakra. This energy increased with every step I took and I started to feel sick. The energy quickly became overwhelming and I decided to stop. I went down a bit on the Volcano and sat down to meditate. In the mediation I asked God why this happened and what he wanted from me, taking me all the way to Iceland. In an instance I felt a tremendous heat on my right side of the head (the side I had toward the Volcano’s top) and it wouldn’t stop. I opened my eyes and found myself looking at an enormous white light that came from the top of the Volcano. Energy penetrated my Heart chakra and I became one with the Earth and the stars.
I do not know how long I stood there, but it felt like ages. In total bliss and in a feeling of Oneness, I realized that God had always loved me; that I was never alone and that he had always been there with me. I saw that the only thing that keeps us from experiencing the divine is the illusion that fears are real. Fear is separation, but in the Heart everything is one.
